Hear from our wonderful teachers as they discuss what and how they’re teaching in class this week, and tell some great stories about the kids!
From Sarah Trout:
This week, we’re continuing with our theme of love, family, and friends. For our spelling & language practice, we’ll be focusing on writing the letter “D”, letter/sound correspondence, and adding another page to our ABC book. We’ll also spend some time talking about how to be a good friend. Of course, there will also be obstacle courses, painting, and many other kinesthetic activities.
Our next unit is going to be centered around princesses!
From Katherine Taylor:
This week we are very excited about Special Persons Day, and are bustling about getting ready for it every morning. Some of the kids are even practicing their speeches at home.
In the afternoons, we are discussing how to have a healthy menu at home. A form for the kids to fill out will come home next week. Be looking for it so the kids can fill out what they have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner out of the five food groups.
Another funny story happened when instead of saying “Ladies and Gentlemen, come to the table” which is what I usually say before my groups, one student said I should say ladies and “germs” instead! Another student Sophie said I should say Latex and Germs! That’s our Social Skills story for the week .
We will soon start getting ready for Read Across America Day which is what we call Dr. Seuss Day. This is when the kids get to pick out their favorite Dr. Seuss book to read to the rest of their friends as we rotate through different stations for the morning. It’s a lot of fun.
Until next week!
