Read May’s first weekly highlight, accompanied by a student-taken photo!

From Sarah Trout:
This week, we have moved on to a ‘Picnic’ theme.  We are completing an obstacle course that takes us to our picnic spot and lets us practice perseverance, motor skills and coordination, and cooperation to figure out how best to overcome obstacles.

First, we had to get on the bus and buckle up.  The first stop took us through a tunnel we had to crawl through.  The next stop was jumping from stone to stone with both feet at the same time.  Then, we stopped at a lake that we had to swim in to get to the other side.  Next, we balanced across a bridge walking horizontally.  Finally, we made it to the picnic spot.  Boy, were we tired.  At last, we could have a picnic and read books!  A lot of social skills practice took place as we talked over our adventures.

Along with these adventures, we are making baskets, flowers, and edible sand.  On Friday, we are going to a nearby park to have a real picnic.  It will be tons of fun!
