Re-introduction

November 17th, 2009

Good afternoon and welcome once more to the Whole Learning School blog.  I’m Ben Lurie, working with Julie Hoff and the rest of the TWLS staff to give you a glimpse into our work.  We’d like to make this blog available as a welcoming place for you to learn more about who we are (both professionally and personally), what we do, and what ideas we have and methods we use to serve our students and their families.  We welcome any questions you might have about us, our students, or how to find other resources for children with disabilities; please feel free to ask us either on this blog or via email at b.lurie@twls.org or j.hoff@twls.org.

You may ask: Who are we?  We’ll be hearing weekly commentary from our amazing teachers on where they come from, what they do, and why they do it.

You may ask: What is a day here like?  Beginning in mid-December, we’ll be posting video clips to show you what a typical class might involve.

You may ask: What have other people’s experiences been with us?  Several parents of TWLS students have volunteered to talk to us about their children, their joys, and their challenges.  You’ll be hearing from them as well.

You may ask: Where can I learn more? Well, give us a call or come to one of our Possible Dreams tours.  Take a look at the main page - we host tours twice monthly to show anyone who’s interested what we do.  You don’t have to be a parent or a donor (although we’d love to have both), just someone who cares about kids growing up to be happy, self-assured, independent adults.  Sign up on the main page or call us at 763-231-2700 if you’d like to schedule tour at a different time.
