Accreditation

TWLS is an Independent School. What does that mean?

Independent schools are nonpublic schools that are independently governed by their own boards of trustees. They are mainly financed by tuition payments and charitable contributions, and sometimes, endowment revenue. They receive little, if any, government funding. Independent school accreditation standards are rigorous and are validated by an independent commission.

TWLS is part of the Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA).

To ensure the best possible educational program for students, TWLS values the outside endorsement that assures the public and our families that TWLS is a quality school. In addition, as an accredited school, TWLS is eligible for corporate grant and gift-matching programs and TWLS families are eligible for education loans with significantly lower interest.

The accreditation cycle is a seven-year cycle with a five-year implementation phase. TWLS will complete the first cycle and become accredited in the fall of 2010 as a first through twelfth grade school. The process consists of nine steps including, but not limited to, a self-study report, development of a school strategic plan, hosting on site visits and an annual report demonstrating compliance.
